Your skin goes through a lot every day. After fighting against the harmful rays of the sun, pollution, toxins, and harsh winds, your complexion is eventually going to show signs of a battle. Your body’s natural defences will start to break down, and that is how skin can end up looking dull, damaged, rough, and dry. Thankfully, this is where microdermabrasion comes in!
Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure that is used in order to renew the overall texture and tone of your skin. The treatment can improve the appearance of melasma, acne scarring, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and other conditions and concerns relating to your skin.
This treatment makes the most of a special applicator that has an abrasive surface, to remove the skin’s thick outer layer. This is done in a gentle manner, rejuvenating the skin, leaving stunning results. It is a procedure that is safe for the majority of skin colours and types.
This is a treatment that tends to take around an hour. It will be carried out by one of our experienced and licensed skin care professionals. You won’t need to have any numbing agent or anesthesia for this treatment, as it is not painful. You will simply sit in a reclining chair while one of our experts will use a handheld device to gently sand away your skin’s outer layer in the targeted areas. Once the treatment has been completed, we will apply sunscreen and moisturiser to your skin. This will ensure your skin is protected. We will also give you our recommendations regarding aftercare.
Microdermabrasion is helpful for people who have very superficial acne scars, pick marks, acne discolouration, mild acne, sallow skin, and dull skin. This may be a good treatment option for anyone who has superficial skin issues and busy lifestyles and they are looking for a treatment that offers a number of benefits with virtually no downtime or side effects. People with deeper acne scars will typically have to have a number of microdermabrasion treatments. We also offer a number of other skin treatments, and so it may be that our skin specialist recommends some other options. Ultimately, though, the choice is, of course, yours.

The technique used at Omniya involves gliding the DiamondWand across the skin. The effect of this is to removes only the top layer of skin cells, and reveals new cells that create a healthy skin glow. Following from this, the skin’s epidermal layers rejuvenate, which leads to collagen production and healthier, more plump skin.
With microdermabrasion, the process is progressive. What this means is that your skin will feel softer and you may notice a subtle improvement. However, it is generally advised to have a course of treatments, which increases circulation within the dermis, with new healthier cells produced.
The number of microdermabrasion sessions (and the treatment intervals) you require will depend on the condition of your skin. Typically, a course of treatments will be required to give you the best results. This is something you will be able to discuss with your skin specialist.
You can expect to notice an improvement in your overall skin complexion after you have had your first session of microdermabrasion. Your skin will feel and look smoother, and the results should last approximately 3 months. However, we often advise a course of microdermabrasion for the best results.
This treatment will usually take between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on the condition of your skin, the desired outcome, and the area that is going to be treated.
Chemical peels are great for treating acne scarring, active acne, pigmentation issues, wrinkles, and fine lines, improving the overall texture and look of your skin. When it comes to microdermabrasion, the skin will appear younger looking, fresher, clearer, brighter, smoother, and softer. If you are unsure which treatment is going to be right for you, all you need to do is book a consultation with one of our skin specialists who will be happy to advise you.
You may experience a bit of peeling after you have had microdermabrasion. This is because the treatment works by removing the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of the skin, and accelerating skin turnover.
As soon as your skin has healed, you will be able to use makeup. Your skin is going to feel a bit tight and dry, as well as being pink, after the treatment. You can expect this to be the case for 24 hours. Some sorts of makeup should be avoided for a minimum of 24 hours after you have had the treatment.
This treatment works well on congested and oil skin. It is effective if you have blocked pores, breakouts, and blackheads.
One of the benefits reported of microdermabrasion is that it is almost pain free. You are likely to feel a very subtle suction, which is because of the vacuum on your skin, and you may feel a tingling.
Following your treatment, for a couple of hours, your skin may look slightly pinkish, which is caused by the DiamondWand. The DiamondTome disrupt tired cells in your skin, but do not cause damage or pain.
Omniya Clinic is a regulated clinic, governed by the Care Quality Commission. This means we implement rigorous safety procedures across the range of our services. Our practitioners are qualified to manage your skin effectively. You can rest assured that the procedure is safe.
Microdermabrasion cost starts from £70 for a single treatment. The exact costs will be confirmed to you after your initial consultation, and a course may be recommended, with costs advised.
The sensation of this treatment feels like soft scratch, comparable to being at the beach on a windy day.
There have been a lot of DIY beauty products released onto the market as of late. Some are good, others are not so good! We definitely do not recommend trying to do microdermabrasion at home, and there are a number of reasons why this is the case. The main reason is because these kits are a lot weaker than the ones we offer. They will not be able to provide the depth of skin abrasion as you would get with professional microdermabrasion, which is why it is better to visit us here at Omniya, rather than wasting your money on a home microdermabrasion kit.
There are a number of different ways that microdermabrasion can be carried out. However, we definitely believe that the DiamondTome wand is the best. This is the original microdermabrasion device that is crystal-free. This wand has natural diamond chips embedded into the tip. This will glide over your skin, clearing away the dead skin cells, debris, and dirt. This results in a much clearer and smoother complexion.
With traditional microdermabrasion, tiny crystals are used, instead of diamonds, for removing the skin’s outer layer. While there is no denying that these treatments were effective, they also had a lot of drawbacks. Firstly, the crystals were very abrasive, creating heat and inflammation on the skin. If you are someone who already suffers from inflammation, for example, acne or rosacea, this approach could actually make the condition a lot worse. Not only this, but this method would require quite a lot of downtime, which isn’t ideal if you’re a busy man or woman!
With the wand that we use, diamonds will abrade the skin instead. This offers a number of benefits over the crystal-based approach. This includes the following:
